Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company Limited (NYAHUWASCO) is mandated to provide clean, safe and reliable water to residents within its licensed service area, which includes Nyahururu Town, Marmanet, Igwamiti and Rumuruti Schemes.

We draw, treat and distribute water that meets the highest national and WHO quality standards to ensure the health and well-being of our customers. Our dedicated technical and customer service teams work tirelessly to guarantee continuous supply and timely response to any service interruptions.


Our Water Services Include:

1. Water Supply and Distribution

We supply treated potable water through an extensive pipeline network covering domestic, institutional and commercial consumers. Our operations are guided by efficient production, pressure management, and continuous monitoring to ensure equitable distribution.

2. New Water Connections

Customers can apply for new water connections through our customer service offices or online platforms. Each application is processed promptly, with site verification and connection done in line with WASREB guidelines.

3. Metering and Billing

All customers are metered to ensure accurate billing and accountability. Monthly readings are taken digitally, and customers can access their bills via *SMS, WHATSAPP, USSD (*873*5#) or the NYAHUWASCO customer portal. Payments can be made easily through M-Pesa Paybill 873900, banks, or designated pay points.

4. Water Bowser Services

For areas not yet connected to the network or during temporary supply interruptions, NYAHUWASCO provides bowser (tanker) services to deliver clean water to homes, institutions, and construction sites. Customers may request the service by visiting our offices or calling our service lines.

5. Water Quality Monitoring

We continuously test water at both the treatment works and customer points to ensure compliance with KEBS and WHO standards. Results are periodically published, and customers are encouraged to report any quality concerns.

6. Leakage Reporting and Network Maintenance

Our maintenance team operates round the clock to detect and repair leaks, bursts, and illegal connections. Customers can report leaks via our customer hotline, WhatsApp, or social media channels for quick response.

Sewerage Services

Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company Limited (NYAHUWASCO) is mandated to provide safe, reliable, and sustainable sewerage services within its area of jurisdiction. The company operates and maintains a modern sewerage system that ensures proper collection, treatment, and safe disposal of wastewater in compliance with environmental and public health standards.

Key Functions

  1. Wastewater Collection and Conveyance
    The company manages an extensive network of sewer lines designed to collect domestic, commercial, and institutional wastewater. Regular inspection, unblocking, and maintenance activities are conducted to ensure uninterrupted flow and minimize blockages or overflows.

  2. Sewage Treatment
    All collected wastewater is treated at the Nyahururu Wastewater Treatment Plant, which employs stabilization ponds and other environmentally friendly technologies. The treatment process aims to reduce pollutants to acceptable levels before final discharge.

  3. Sludge Management
    Sludge from the treatment process is managed in a controlled and hygienic manner. Treated sludge is often dried and used for safe disposal or agricultural applications in accordance with NEMA guidelines.

  4. New Sewer Connections
    The company facilitates new customer connections to the sewer network. This includes network mapping, customer application processing, inspection, and approval in line with technical and regulatory requirements.

  5. Environmental Protection and Compliance
    NYAHUWASCO works closely with agencies such as NEMA and the Water Resources Authority (WRA) to ensure compliance with effluent discharge standards and to promote sustainable sanitation practices.

  6. Public Awareness and Hygiene Promotion
    The company conducts sensitization campaigns on proper waste disposal, the importance of connecting to the sewer system, and the role of sanitation in protecting water sources and community health.

Future Plans

  • Expansion of the sewer network to cover unserved areas.

  • Upgrading of the wastewater treatment plant to enhance capacity and efficiency.

  • Introduction of decentralized treatment systems and reuse options for treated effluent.

  • Adoption of smart monitoring systems for better management of the sewerage network.

Bowser and Ehauster services

  • NYAHUWASCO provides exhauster services for customers not connected to the sewer network. 

    The process is:

    1. Customer calls or visits the office and gives the exact location where service is needed.

    2. After making payment, the service is delivered

Charges & tariffs

  • As per our tariff schedule (for 2024/2025), 

    • Tanker (bowser): for 8,000 L & 16,000 L tankers — KShs 2,500 & 5,000 respectively (within WSP area)

    • Sale of water at bowsing point (own tanker): KShs 145 per m³.

    • Exhauster services (company exhauster): KShs 5,000 for other customers and KShs 4,000 for informal settlements within the WSP area.


How to request / contact

  1. Call NYAHUWASCO and give your location for the bowser or exhauster service.

  2. Visit one of their offices (Nyahururu, Marmanet, Igwamiti, Rumuruti) and request the service.

  3. Pay the applicable fee (via M-Pesa or bank) before delivery.
